WABASH COUNTY, Ind. – On 8/06/2018 at approximately 9:24 pm, the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department investigated a single vehicle accident at the intersection of SR13 and CR 950 South. Samuel O Purvis Jr. of LaFontaine, IN, 52, was traveling eastbound on CR 950 South, failed to stop for the stop sign at the Tee intersection of SR 13. The vehicle then exited the roadway to the east, colliding with the ditch before coming to a rest in the field. First aid and CPR was administered by responding units. Samuel O. Purvis Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Evidence at the scene revealed that Purvis was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The crash is still under investigation by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department. Assisting at the scene: The Wabash Fire Department, Noble Township Fire Department, Wabash County EMA, Indiana Conservation Officers, the Indiana State Police and the Indiana County Coroner.
