Kim J. Powell

Kim J. Powell, 65, Marion, passed away at 4:45 am on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Majestic Care of Carmel. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, December 2, 1957, to Earl and Ferol (Thompson) Powell.  He was married to his loving wife, Norma J. (Schie) Powell, who preceded him in death.  

Kim graduated from Marion High School. He had worked at Red Gold, RCA, the City of Marion Street Department, and Weaver Popcorn. Kim enjoyed fishing, wrestling, and elephants, and he was an avid coin collector. He also owned several classic cars and loved going to car shows, such as World of Wheels and Ducktail, with his daughter. He was a real family man, and they meant everything to him. Kim touched many people’s lives and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Survivors include his daughter, Elenora E. (Cassandra) Powell of Marion; granddaughter, Makayla (Kyle) Franks of Marion; grandsons, Gabriel (Victoria) Tibbets of Marion and Ardeth Tibbets of Rushville; sister, Vanessa R. Vires of Marion; brother, Michael (Terry) Powell of Marion; granddaughter, Becca Powell; great-granddaughters, Stella and Nova; great-grandson, A.J.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Sharen Elizabeth Tibbets.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Kim’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jeremy Moore officiating.  Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
