Kenneth “Kenny” A. Jones, 87, Sweetser, IN, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:22 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2016, in his home. Kenny was born in Marion, IN, to the late Luther and Bernice (Jackson) Jones. He married Sharon Jones in June 1992, and she preceded him in death on February 8, 2016.
Kenny retired from Atlas Foundry in 1994 after 38 years of service in the maintenance department. He attended and was active in his church, Sweetser Wesleyan Church. Kenny enjoyed fishing, playing Euchre, and gardening. He was a lifelong member of the NRA, as well as a member of Wabash Wildlife and Sportsman Association. Kenny was an avid deer, squirrel, quail, and pheasant hunter. He also spent much of his free time making custom knives and working on and painting cars. He loved his dog, Tippy.
Kenny is survived by children from his first marriage with the late Alice (Ancil) Jones: Kenny L. (Kathy), Dennis (late wife, Linda), Rick (Julie), and Tami (Jim) Harrison. He is also survived by three step-children from his second wife, Sharon: Meridith J. Martin, Jonesboro, Cheryl Belville, Fort Wayne, and Dawn (Walter) McHenry, Gas City; brother, Lester Jones; half-brother, James Merritt; half-sister, Beverly Bailey; 27 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
His step-son, Anthony “Tony” Martin, preceded him in death in 1993, as well as his sister, Barbaratta.
Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Marion.
