Kathleen Caroline Greene, 86, Van Buren, went to be with the Lord at 8:30 am on Saturday, December 12, 2020, in her home. She was born in Elk Park, North Carolina, on Friday, August 24, 1934, to Noah and Matilda (Hicks) Hicks. On May 2, 1953, she married James Greene, and he preceded her on April 29, 2018.
Kathleen was a stay-at-home mom and grandma. She was a member of Grace Community Church and lived by her Bible and her faith in Jesus Christ. She enjoyed time with her family and always looked forward to family dinners. She also enjoyed watching the birds outside her window. Kathleen will be remembered as a very gentle, kind, and loving woman.
Survivors include her son, Steve (Lorie) Greene of Marion; seven grandchildren, Natasha (Zach Stefanski) Greene, Destani (James) Ailstock, Stephen (Carol) Greene, Luke (Stephanie) Haglund, Anna Baker, Grace Shockey, and Rachel (Dane) Purvis; seven great-grandchildren, Jordy Ailstock, Lillie Ailstock, Jensen Ailstock, Isadora Greene, Alex Baker, Ruby Baker, and Dimitri Houseman; two brothers, Elmer (Janet) Hicks and Roger Hicks; and sister-in-law, Myrtle Hicks.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; Noah and Matilda Hicks; daughter, Patricia Gail Haglund; and brothers, Murphy (Mary) Hicks and Hildreth Hicks.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Kathleen’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will take place at Van Buren Cemetery.
