June A. Leavitt, 86, of Fairmount, Indiana died Monday, January 22, 2018 at Wesleyan Health Care in Marion, IN.
June was born on June 8, 1981 in in Anderson, Indiana, daughter of the late Harold and Effie (Beckley) Leavitt. She graduated from Swayzee High School in 1949 and from State Beauty School in 1951. June retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Co. in 1992 with 39 years of service. She was treasurer for CWA Local 4714 for 20 years. As a member of the Marion General Hospital Auxiliary, she volunteered in several departments. She was a member of the 55 Speeder Group at First Methodist Church in Marion. A past member of the Marion ABWA Aureau Amicae Chapter, she served as president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and was Woman of the Year. She was also a 75 year member of the Rigdon United Methodist Church.
June is survived by her brother, Harold (Sonja) Leavitt, Jr., Elwood, IN, half-brothers; David Leavitt, Rigdon, IN, Max (Pam) Leavitt, Gas City, IN, and Rex Leavitt, Elwood, IN. She was a very special Aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Florence, brothers; Jim and Jack Leavitt, half-brothers; Keith and Mike Leavitt, step-brother, Bill Clemons, sister, Joyce King-Carroll, step-sister, Patricia Stephens
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where visitation will be from 11 AM – 1 PM on Friday, January 26, 2018. Funeral service will begin at 1 PM with Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana
