Judith Ann Hardcastle, 83, Swayzee, passed away at 8:35 pm on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Century Villa Health Care & Rehabilitation in Greentown. She was born in Swayzee, Indiana, on Wednesday, November 20, 1940, to George and Margaret (Dale) Barker. On May 12, 1963, she married Richard Joe Hardcastle.
Judy graduated from Swayzee HS and attended Indiana Business College /Indiana University. She was a member of Church of Christ at Normal. She was a sports fan – particularly IU. She worked for Grooms Drug Store, Fishburn Lawyer’s Office, Bell Fiber and Lake Printing, all before becoming a full-time devoted homemaker. She loved to bake and kept her kids and the neighborhood kids in cookies.
Survivors include her son, Richard J. (Sheila) Hardcastle Jr. of Westfield; daughter, Amanda (Jerry) Gephart of Swayzee; granddaughter, Snezhana Hardcastle of Westfield; a great grandchild on the way; brother, George (Elizabeth) Barker Jr. of Davison, MI; sister, Mary (Rex) Hagquist of Swayzee: several nieces, nephews, cousins; and her cat, Oreo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Joe Hardcastle; step-father, Wayne Stroup; and brother, David Stroup.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Sunday, February 18, 2024 as well as 1 hour prior to the service on Monday, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service – Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Rybolt Chapel. Ed Bridegroom will be officiating with burial following at Gardens of Memory – Marion.
