John Arnold Day, 90, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 11:35 pm, Saturday, October 21, 2023, at his home. He was born on June 24, 1933, in Richvalley, Indiana, to M. Nathaniel and Thelma E. “Betty” (Hinkle) Day.
John married Betty Tait on June 21, 1952 in Peru, Indiana. He was a millwright at General Tire in Marion, retiring after 34 years. John enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, traveling, mushroom hunting, and walking his dog.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Day of Wabash; three children, Teresa (John) Heitz of Wabash, Johnny (Brenda) Day of Roann, Indiana, and Debra Hardin of LaFontaine, Indiana; six grandchildren, Mikel Grimm of Deltona, Florida, Frank Grimm of Rochester, Indiana, John (Brandy) Day, Tabetha Day, Sylvia (Bryan) McCallen, and Stephanie Hardin, all of Wabash; 15 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Joann Carr, Mary (Gene) DeLauter, and Robert (Bonnie) Day, all of Wabash; and his sister-in-law, Sharon Day of Bloomington, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Sophia Wilcox, and his brother, Donald Day.
Friends may call 4-7 pm Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Private burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash.
