JoAnn Crystal Fleenor was born November 1, 1924 in Three Rivers, Michigan. She received her undergraduate degree at Michigan State and her graduate degree at Columbia University. She met her future husband, J. Fredrick Fleenor, while aiding in the reconstruction efforts in France following World War II. After having their first child, Fredricka, they moved in 1960 to the Valley, where their second child, Christopher, was born. JoAnn spent the last 30 years of her life as a Spanish Instructor, which reflects one the issues about which she was most passionate: intercultural relations. She was a life-long learner and had a love for travel. She was preceded in death by her son Christopher. She is survived by her daughter, Fredricka, her daughter-in-law, Sharyn, her grandsons, Maxwell, Joseph, Edward, Issac, and her great-granddaughter, Eloise. Graveside service will be Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers, Michigan.
