Joan Ethel Dunphy

Joan Ethel Dunphy, 85, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:35 am, Monday, April 10, 2023, at Parkview Wabash Hospital. She was born on May 2, 1937, in Wabash, to Kenneth M. and Marian M. (Davis) Lawson.

Joan married Donald Dunphy in Wabash on October 5, 1993; he died October 14, 2011. She worked at Eugenia’s restaurant at the Honeywell Center 3 years, and at Manns Country Kitchen for 8 years. Joan enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and gardening.

She is survived by three children, Dean (Ericka) Miller and Glenn K. (Cindy) Miller, both of Wabash; and Michael Miller of Peru, Indiana; five grandchildren, Heather Miller, Katrina Miller, and Kevin Miller, all of Wabash, Austin Miller of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Joseph (McKenzie) Miller of Marion, Indiana, two great-grandchildren; six step-children, Diane (Joe) Harner of Wabash, Tom (Jolene) Dunphy of Leesburg, Indiana, Donald (Patty) Dunphy of Urbana, Indiana, Carol (John) Shepherd, Vern (Deb) Dunphy, and Camay Dunn, all of Wabash; and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Rodney Miller who died in 1988, brother, Marvin Lawson, and her sister, Velma Templin.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will be in LaFontaine I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 pm Wednesday, at the funeral home.
