James E. "Big Jim" Kinzie

Jim Kinzie “Big Jim”, age 78, passed away at home on Saturday, November 6 after a courageous 16-month fight against cancer.

He was born May 20, 1943 in Marion, IN, to the late Winton Kinzie and Virginia Kinzie-Conkling.

Jim graduated from Marion High School in 1962 and was drafted into the Army in 1965. He was employed by Fisher Body (General Motors) from 1965-2000.

He married Anna Jean Dalton on October 15, 1965. They recently celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Jim was baptized in The Church of God and attended ReNewed Life Church (First United Methodist Church, Gas City).

He is survived by his wife, Anna; son, James (Sherri) Kinzie II; daughter, Julie (Robert) Workman; 2 granddaughters, Cassidy (AJ) Knapp, Jennifer Hauge; 3 grandsons, Kinzie James Workman, Peyton Robert Workman, and Kenneth James Kinzie. He also had 3 great-granddaughters, Diana and twins, Chloe and Naomi Knapp; brother, Terry Kinzie; sister, Becky (Larry) Morgan; and best friend since grade-school, Jerry Shull.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Eva Kindle; parents; and sister, Kay Hendey.

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral to celebrate Big Jim’s life will begin at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Dustin Jones officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice and The Cancer Center of Marion.
