Jerry W. Whitacre, age 68, of Andrews, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018, at 5:41 am at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was a welder at Dexter Axle in Albion and a cargo handler at Kitty Hawk in Fort Wayne. He was a member of the KA-BAR Knife Club, and enjoyed fishing, drag racing and home improvement.
Jerry was born February 28, 1950, in Huntington, the son of Wanda Mae Whitacre. On June 17, 1973 he married Edith E. Stallsmith and she survives in Andrews. Also surviving are a son J. Ross Whitacre of Fort Wayne, a daughter Dawn (Jeremy) Whitacre-Rosen of Huntington, and a granddaughter Olivia Rosen. He was preceded in death by his mother and beloved dog Waldo “Bubba”.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
