Jerry J. Cole

Jerry J. Cole, 81, of Fairmount, Indiana, died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, after a brief illness.

Jerry was born on November 19, 1936 in Converse, Indiana, son of the late Paul and Mildred (Fager) Cole. He married Sara “Kay” Beck on July 14, 1957 in Fairmount. Jerry had worked at Paranite Wire & Cable Factory in Marion for several years before working at Delco-Remy in Anderson where he worked the assembly line for 27 1/2 years before retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #635 of Fairmount, Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne and the Over The Hill Gang. Jerry was one of the founders of the Vintage Motorcycle Club at the James Dean Festival as well as a member of the 9th Street Car Club. An avid motorcycle lover, Jerry loved his 1947 Indian Motorcycle and his Harley-Davidson. On sunny days you could spot him riding the streets of Fairmount. Jerry’ s garage was a well known gathering spot for his fellow riders. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as being loved and respected by his many friends, nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kay, children; Lee Ann (Randy) Jostes, St. Charles, MO, Scott (Amy) Cole, Fairmount, and Craig (Thomas) Cole MD, Port Orange, FL, grandchildren; Kyle (Michelle) Howard, Wentzville, MO, Taylor (Sam) Cole, Elwood, IN, step-grandchildren; Grayson Jostes, St. Charles, MO and Audrey (Joe) Kuczka, St. Louis, MO, great-grandchildren; Kade, Levi, Elyn, and Olivia

Jerry was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Abby Howard, sister Carolyn Dawson, his motorcycle riding dog, Ace and the motorcycle and garage protector, Nick.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where visitation will be held Tuesday, May 8 from 4-8 PM with a Masonic Service at 8 PM. Funeral Service celebrating Jerry’s life will be on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 11 AM with his grandson, Kyle Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Fairmount.
