Jennie Carmichael, 80, Marion, went to be with the Lord at 4:40 am on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Owingsville, Kentucky, on Sunday, May 31, 1942, to Lloyd and Bessie (Perkins) Harmon. She was married to Harold Carmichael.
Jennie graduated from Marion High School and attended Marion College. She worked at Marion Community Schools, where she was a secretary. She was a member of West 8th St. Wesleyan Church and loved playing the piano and organ. She faithfully played every Sunday at church. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing golf with her husband. In her spare time, you could always find her engrossed in a good book. Jennie especially enjoyed spending time with her family and attending any and all activities her grandson was involved in. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Survivors include her son, David (Laura) Carmichael of Marion; daughter, Tara Carmichael of Indianapolis; grandson, Eric (Rachael) Carmichael; and great-grandson, Henry Carmichael.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Jennie’s life will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Dan Van Cise officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
