Jeanne Johnson

Jeanne Johnson, 87, Marion, passed away at 5:58 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born in Castleton, Indiana, on Thursday, February 15, 1934, to Donald and Glenna (Hinshaw) Beaver.

Jeanne graduated from Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis. On May 6, 1956, she married Richard Leland Johnson, and he preceded her in death in 2020. They were married for 64 years.

Jeanne loved her family, friends, and church. She loved to travel, visiting all 50 States and going on cruises to Norway, Hawaii, and Alaska. She also loved to read and cross stitch. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian and served as President of the Westminster Women’s Group. Both Jeanne and her husband were very active members of GLC for over 40 years. She was a preschool teacher for 30 years with Westminster Presbyterian Church. Jeanne also held a very special place in her heart for veterans. She worked for the Army for ten years, serving in the finance center in Fort Harrison, where she mailed checks to military members. Jeanne always made each day count and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her four children: Cathryn (Tim) Taylor of Claypool, Cynthia “CJ” (Raphael) McAbee-Reher of Marion, Ronald (Amy) Johnson of Snellville, GA, and Candace (Christopher) McDaniel of Kokomo; grandchildren: Daniel Taylor of Mentone, David Taylor of Warsaw, Matthew (Nichole) Taylor of Silver Lake, Barbara (Kory) Stucky of Fort Wayne, Jonathan (Jaime) McAbee-Reher of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer “Jay” McAbee-Reher, Emma McAbee-Reher of Marion, Drew (Jenna) Scott of Dacula, GA, Emily (Andrew Jones) Rios of Colorado Springs, CO, Ryan Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, Evan Johnson of Snellville, GA, Spencer McDaniel of Kokomo, and Jada McDaniel of Kokomo; and great-grandchildren: Kinsey Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Keegan Taylor, Kyra Stucky, Everett Stucky, Reagan Scott, Eleanor Scott, Gabriel Rios, and Mackenzie Jones.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Don Beaver; and great-grandson, Gryffin Stucky.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Jeanne’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Laurie Wolcott officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
