Janet S. Phillips, 82, of Marion, passed away at 2:50 pm on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born in Marion on Sunday, June 26, 1938, to Russell and Wilma (Haynes) Hutchison.
Janet graduated from Marion High School in 1956 and was married to her loving husband, Merrill D. Phillips, for 43 years. She loved her family, and she enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. She was also an avid reader and loved to do puzzles.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Tim (Christa) Bickel of Carmel and Jeff Bickel of Lubbock, TX; daughter, Danette (James) Hall of Lawton, OK; step-sons, Terry (Cathy) Phillips of MI, Merrill (Gina) Phillips, Jr., of Elkhart, Wilbur (Julie) Phillips of Huntington, and Kevin (Shelia) Phillips of Bristol; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jim (Dixie) Hutchison and Garry (Sonja) Hutchison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Hutchison; and sisters, Betty Moran and Shirley Case.
At Janet’s request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
