James Lee Obenchain, II

James Lee Obenchain, II, 51, Gas City, went home to be with the Lord at 4:43 am on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Marion General Hospital. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, October 8, 1969, to James and Pamela (Wood) Obenchain. On November 28, 1992, he married the love of his life Shelly Williamson.

James graduated from Mississinewa High School and attended Vincennes University. He worked as a custodian for Grant County, retiring in 2013. He was a member of Bethel Worship Center and was very active with many ministries within the church. He loved and took care of family, whatever they needed he was there for them. He loved traveling and fishing, taking walks, and watching football. He loved God’s Word and didn’t know a stranger.

Survived by his wife; his daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Jerald) Mance of Indianapolis; grandson, Jonah Mance; granddaughter, Myra Mance; son, James Park Obenchain of Fort Wayne; brother, Jeremy (Stefanie) Obenchain of New Carlisle; nephew, Garret Obenchain, niece Olivia Obenchain; sister-in-law, Angela (John) Walls of Marion; nephew, Peter Walls and niece, Arianna Walls; uncle, Walter (Karen) Wood of Gas City; father-in-law, Rolland (Millie) Williamson of Upland; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lee and Pamela Jane Obenchain.

The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, April 19, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.

A Funeral Service to celebrate James’ life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner, Storey Chapel. Pastor Gary Dalton and Pastor Mike Henson will be officiating with burial following at Riverside Cemetery.
