James Clinton Berg

James Clinton Berg, 82, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Colonial Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center. Jim was born to the late Herman and Hazel Berg on March 17, 1936. He married Esther “Pat” Stevens on April 1, 1956, in Farmland, Indiana. The celebrated their 62nd anniversary this year. He worked as an inspector for the General Motors Corporation for 35 years, retiring in May of 1991. Jim was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and he attended the Kingdom Hall. He was a member of the UAW #977 and he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, fishing, and taking trips with his sons to Michigan to fish for salmon. He used to sing and play guitar with friends from work and his family, and he liked listening to country music. The most important things in life to Jim were taking care of his family and sharing the good news about God’s Kingdom and all of the wonderful promises in His Word, the Bible, with all whom he met.

Jim is survived by his wife, Pat Berg, Marion; four children, Tim (Donna) Berg, Gary (Sandy) Berg, Greg Berg, and Betty Berg, all of Marion; three sisters, Sally Timmons, Portland, Barbara (Don) Watson, CA, Sharon (Sam) Huston, Kokomo; brother-in-law, Dane Artrip, Muncie; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hazel Berg; one brother, Herman Berg, Jr; and three sisters, Betty Thrasher, Margaret Watson, and Wilma Artrip.

Arrangements for Jim have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953, where a visitation will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and an hour before the service on Saturday. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Jim’s son, Tim Berg, officiating.
