Jack Walter Sutton, 87, of Peru, died March 28th, 2016.

Jack was born October 2, 1928 in Dogtown, just north of Loree, Miami County, Indiana and raised by his grandparents John Wesley and Barbara Ellen (Mast) Sutton. Jack lived a good life and gradually got old and wore out. He died of natural causes on March 28, 2016 after living most of his adult life in Peru, Miami County, Indiana.

Jack was a 1946 graduate of Clay Township High School. He later became a fixture in the local business community. He operated a full-service Standard Oil station for 27 years on the corner of Cass and Main and previously worked at another local station for 20 years. He was a good example of hard work and integrity.

Jack served his country as a member of Company B, 76th Engineering and Construction Battalion during the Korean War and later as a member of the Miami County Draft Board.

In his early days, he hunted mushrooms and ran trap lines along Pipe Creek. He enjoyed fishing and caught more than his share of large-mouthed bass after dark.

Jack was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

His oldest son, John Mark Sutton, preceded him in death on February 14th, 2016.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Marilyn Jeanne (Denton) Sutton, his six children: Jane Maureen Sutton, of Miami Beach, FL; Jeffrey Miles (Teresa) Sutton of Carmel; Jerome Marshall (Janie) Sutton of Centennial, CO; Joseph Martin (Lynne Buccilli) Sutton of McCordsvile; Jordan Mitchell (Angie) Sutton of Livonia, MI; and Julie Melinda (Ritch) Shepherd, of Orem, UT. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and three sisters: Sheila (Dick) Fickle of Kokomo, IN, Patty Sue Dail of Deatsville, AL, and Jo Ellen Boon, of Orlando, FL.

Friends may call at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2:30 PM.
