Jack D. Cook

Jack D. Cook, 88, of Marion, passed away at 10:27 am on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in his home. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Tuesday, May 28, 1935, to Virgil Cook and Mary (Hines) Greene.  On May 11, 1967, he married Beverly R. Shook, who survives.

Jack graduated from Marion High School in 1953, where he played basketball.  He was the owner/operator of Cook Construction for over 60 years and, at one time, a volunteer deputy sheriff for Grant County.  He enjoyed target shooting, bowling, and playing shuffleboard. He also liked fishing and playing pool. Jack enjoyed listening to music, especially gospel and country, and he was a hobby musician who liked to play his keyboard. Jack was a member of Sunnycrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Beverly R. Cook of Marion; daughters, Corinne (late Les) Oliver of Indianapolis, Kimberly (Roger) Davis of Lafayette, Valerie (April Heinze) Cook of Coronado, CA, and Pamela (Jim) Davis of Anderson; granddaughter, Caitlin (Brent) Luebcke; grandsons, Michael Cook and Ian (Chelsea Bonollo) Davis; great-grandsons, Lucas Cook and Atticus Luebcke; sister, Sondra (late Kenneth) Wright of Pierceton; step-sister, Linda Jennings; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and his dog, Abby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Candice Cook; step-son, Dennis Shook; sister, Mary LaShure; and step-brother, Terry Stickann.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Jack’s life will begin at 1:00 pm.  Pastor Joe Wisley will be officiating.
