Iola Marie Seekins

Iola Marie Seekins, 92, Marion, passed away at 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Madison County, Iowa, on Saturday, September 15, 1928, to Ralph and Mina (Thurman) Burgan. On April 19, 1952, she married Arden Ray Seekins, and he preceded her in death on October 2, 2014.

Iola attended school in a one room school house until she went to high school in Murray, Iowa where she graduated in 1947. She was employed at Warner Press in Anderson and Wesleyan Headquarters in Marion. She attended the First Church of God and was very active, holding different positions. She loved to entertain the youth, travel, and invite people into her home.

Survivors include her daughters, Marlene K. (Ubi) Jazic of Palmetto, FL, Janeice (late Dwayne) Hinshaw of Burlington, NC; sons, Doyle Arden Seekins of Jonesboro, Brent E. Seekins of Marion; brother, Virgil D. Burgan of Altoona, IA; grandchildren, Matthew (Gretchen) Liston, Ronnie Moran, Michael (Hailey) Hinshaw, Jamie Seekins, Morgan McClure, Nickolas Seekins, Devin Seekins (Ashley Perez), and Melany Seekins; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mina Burgan; her loving husband, Arden Ray Seekins; grandson, Landon Seekins; and brothers, Don M. Burgan, and Gerald L. Burgan.

The family will receive visitors from 3 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

A funeral to celebrate Iola’s life will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the funeral home. Pastor Brian White will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
