Imy was born in Tipton County on April 1, 1918 to the late Philip W. and Halcie (Teter) Small. She passed away on January 21, 2017 in Wesleyan Health Care Center, Marion.
On June 2, 1934 she married Eugene Miller. Imy and Eugene lived in the Fairmount area for most of their lives. Mr. Miller preceded her in death on February 19, 1991. Together they had two children, Melba M. (Jack) Root and Dr. Christopher E. (Crystal) Miller, both of Fairmount.
Imy worked for Madison Grant Schools as the head cook and retired after many years of service. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, reading and watching television. She especially loved cooking and baking. Her family always knew that if she was making pie that inevitably there would be “Cinnamon Pie” as a special treat too. She was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Marion. Imy was known for being fun and doing fun things. One of her favorite things to do was going to see country music concerts and seeing live bands. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
In addition to her children, Imy is also survived by her siblings, William E. Small, Brownsburg; John M. (Carol) Small, Fairmount; Carolyn DeLong, Carmel; six grandchildren, Dr. Kristine Root (Bruce) McLane, Timothy E. Root, Jordan (Megan) Miller, Bryce Miller, all of Fairmount; Jared (Kaitlin) Miller, Max (Holly) Miller, both of Fishers; one great-granddaughter, Ruby Q. Miller, Fairmount.
She is also preceded in death by sisters, Cleo E. Sink, Gladys Cottingham, Edith Blair, Marilyn Summitt and Lola Nelson.
Visitation will be held from 5pm-8pm, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana.
Funeral services will begin at 1pm on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in the funeral home with Chaplain Charlie Hall officiating.
The burial will immediately follow in Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
