Henry “Rick” DeLaGarza, Jr.

Henry “Rick” DeLaGarza, Jr., 74, of Wabash, Indiana, died 6:30 am, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his home. He was born on February 22, 1948, in Cuero, Texas, to Henry and Sylvia DeLaGarza.

Rick first married Georgia Garlow; she died September 24, 2014. He then married Sandra “Sandi” (Evans) Larimer on March 6, 2015. He entered the US Marine Corp in 1968 and was stationed in California. He then was sent to Vietnam where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He was then sent back to the US where he finished out his time at Great Lakes Station in Chicago. After his discharge, Rick worked at several auto parts stores in Chicago and then moved to Huntington, Indiana. He worked at the majestic factory for many years, before moving to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Rick retired from Megtec Systems in Depre, Wisconsin in 2008. He played and sang in the band “Willie and the Hand Jive”, where he was Willie. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, but the joy of his life was riding his Harley. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15 in Wabash. Rick moved to Wabash in 2012 coming from Green Bay, Wisconsin. He enjoyed his time with his best brothers on their bike rides and going out to eat. His pride and joys were his Harley Trike, his wife, his children, grandsons, and his great granddaughter. He loved to go fishing with his grandson Sebastian and talked about all the Aflacs they would see, which was and always would be an inside joke to them. Rick was full of stories and loved to talk about his life experiences. He always wanted to own a Harley Trike, visit his sister in Puerto Rico, and attend his grandson’s wedding, and he was able to accomplish them all.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra “Sandi” DeLaGarza of Wabash; two children, Henry “Rick” (Adacelis) DeLaGarza III of Green Bay, and Shanna (Troy) Horutz of Terre Haute, Indiana; grandsons, Sebastian (Jena) DeLaGarza and Armani (Fatima Meza) DeLaGarza, both of Green Bay; great granddaughter, Braelyn DeLaGarza of Green Bay; his sisters and brother, Linda Andino of Killeen, Texas, Diana Baez of Chicago, Illinois, and Julio Detres of Fort Myers, Florida; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and his many adopted family members at Habaneros. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carman.

There will be a memorial service at 4:00 pm, Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash, with Rev. Ron Evans officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 pm Sunday, at the funeral home.
