Henry Everett Steely, 83, Marion, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family, at 3:50 am on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent-Indianapolis in Indianapolis. He was born in Blackey, Kentucky, on Wednesday, January 22, 1941, to Henry and Ermia (Caudill ) Steely. On September 3, 1960, he married Imogean Fields, and she survives.
Henry graduated from Stuart Robinson High School and attended Caney College. He worked as a welder for 38 years with General Motors, Marion, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he had been very involved for many years. He was very enamored with his wife of 63 years. He enjoyed all things outside and sitting on the porch chatting with his neighbors. Most importantly, he loved Jesus and his family very much.
Survivors include his wife, Imogean Steely; children, Larry (Cindi) Steely of Marion, Barbie (Brian) Ballschmidt of Estero, FL, Todd (Angie) Steely of Estero, FL; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Albert (Kathy) Steely of North Grove; sister, Lillie (Gary) Taylor of Prichard, WV; sisters-in-law, Anetha Steely of Middlesboro, KY and Yvonne Steely of Middlesboro, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry E. and Ermia Steely; brothers, Joe Steely, Herman Steely, Bob Steely; and sisters, Mary (Jack) Bryant and Atha (Jack ) Bryant.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church, 517 Church St., Sweetser, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Henry’s life will begin at 3:00 pm with Pastor Terry Bishir officiating. Entombment will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
