Harold C. Riggle

Harold C. Riggle, age 91, of Huntington, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Tipton Place in Huntington.

Visitation will be from 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018 at Faith Community Church of God, 3615 North Norwood Road, Huntington, with Rev. Steve Stull officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington with military graveside rites performed by VFW Post #2689 of Huntington.

Preferred memorials are to Heartland Hospice or Tipton Place, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750.

Harold was born on October 30, 1926 in Huntington, the son of Herbert A. and Winifred (Avery) Riggle. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1945 and directly served in the United States Merchant Marines after the ending of World War II. He married Emma C. Reed on February 16, 1947 in Huntington. After attending Huntington College, Harold served in the United States Navy during the Korean War for four years. He was elected 5th District Huntington City Councilman in 1967. He retired from the Vectren utilities company in 1990 after 40 years of service. He was a member of Faith Community Church of God in Huntington, where he was an usher for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post #85 in Huntington and was an avid fan of every type of sports; he played shuffleboard and badminton. He was a life member of the East State Street Church of God bowling team. He enjoyed golfing and fishing with his family, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. In his final months, Harold was looking forward to going home to see Jesus.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Emma C. Riggle of Huntington, daughters Roxanne R. (Ken) McArthur of Richboro, Pennsylvania and Beverly J. (Randy) Crook of Arcadia, Indiana, sons Tom C. (Tina) Riggle of Huntington and Mark A. (Linda) Riggle of Carmel, a sister Jean Griffith of Huntington, 11 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert Riggle and Richard Riggle, and a great grandson, James T. Crook.
