Gunshot Victim Released from Hospital, police Still Searching for Suspects and Motive

GRANT COUNTY, Ind. – Below is a message from the Grant County Sheriff’s Department:

GRANT COUNTY, Ind. – On 01/07/18 at approximately 12:36 am, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a female stating that her son had been shot. Upon Officer’s arrival to 1105 South 4th Avenue in Jonesboro, Indiana, it was found that Larry Pavey, 51, Jonesboro was shot numerous times. Officers also found that 81 year old Gene Thompson was suffering from a gunshot wound. Both Mr. Pavey and Mr. Thompson were loaded into awaiting ambulances and transported for treatment. Mr. Pavey was transported to a Fort Wayne Hospital for treatment and is expected to survive at this time.

Mr. Thompson expired on his way to Marion General Hospital for treatment.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department is currently looking for at least two unknown suspects at this time driving an extended cab pickup truck red or dark in color.

The Jonesboro Police Department is actively investigating this case along with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police.

Other agencies involved with assisting in this case include the Fairmount Police Department, Jonesboro Fire Department, Marion General Hospital, and Grant County EMS.
