Guilford “Gil” D. Cline

Guilford “Gil” D. Cline, 94, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at The Heritage of Huntington, Huntington, IN.           .

Mr. Cline was born November 5, 1923, in Huntington, IN, to Charles H. and Mary E. (Dean) Cline.  His parents preceded him in death. He married Judy Lynn Helfrich on May 1, 1970.   She survives and resides in Huntington, IN.

Mr. Cline graduated from Union Center High School.  Gil served in the United States Army during World War II –Europeon Theatre.  He delivered the Normandy Invasion maps during WW II.  He was a lifetime member of the Markle United Methodist Church and he served in many clubs and organizations throughout his lifetime. Gil was past-president of the South Side Business Association, member of the Fort Wayne Transportation Club, Downtown Business Association, past-president of LaFontaine Saddle Club, Bluffton Masonic Lodge, Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, Hapzim Shrine Club, Shrine Horse Patrol, past-president of Little 500 Racing Shriners and past-president of Starlite Dancers.  He was also recognized for traveling over 100 trips to the Shriners Hospital in Chicago.

Mr. Cline was a self-employed business owner of Cline Transfer and Storage, Corner Tavern, Huntington Pipe & Tobacco Shop and was also employed at Gary’s Auto Sales and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by two sons, Randy (Kristi) Cline, Brian Will, both of Huntington, IN; two daughters, Jodie (Dominick) Posillipo, Tracy Beeching, both of Huntington, IN; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Cline, Jerry Cline; and three sisters, Violet Yoors, Ina Adams and Wilda Scott.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.

At 6:00 p.m. there will be a Masonic Service at the funeral home following the calling hours.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.

A private burial will be in Gardens of Memory, 11201 S Marion Road -35, Marion, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriner Crippled Children Van Transportation Fund in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN  46750.
