Gregg R. Thompson, 72, of (Giest) Indianapolis, IN, passed away at 1:30 PM on Thurs, April 26, 2018 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on July 23, 1945, in Indianapolis to the late Elwood & Josephine (Flowers) Thompson. He married Vickyee Ann Pursley on December 20, 1969 in Indianapolis; she passed away on January 3, 2016. Gregg was a 1963 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School; after high school he joined the National Guard, where he served as a military police officer. On July 9, 1969 he started his career as a private with the Indianapolis Fire Dept. Throughout the years he moved up in ranks as a Battalion Chief and lastly as Shift Commanding Officer at the IFD Headquarters. Gregg served the Indianapolis community until his retirement on December 31, 2010.
Gregg is survived by son, Kevin (Tina) Thompson, Giest, Grandsons, Oliver Parker, Cooper Thompson and Sister-in-law – Sue (Randy) Morgan, Giest.
Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit at Giest Catholic Church 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, on Mon, April 30, 2018 from 5-8PM. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Spirit at Giest at 11AM on Tues, May 1, 2018 with Father Phil Bowers officiating.
