Glenora Shook, 91, of Swayzee, passed away at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Rolling Meadows Health & Rehabilitation Center in LaFontaine. She was born in Huntington County, Indiana, on Saturday, May 9, 1931, to Glen and Nora Etta (Love) Shaw. On December 16, 1950, she married Samuel R. Shook, and he preceded her in death on November 22, 1999.
Glenora graduated from Jefferson Township High School. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Tot Shop/Ugly Duckling. Glenora loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables. In her younger years, she was quite artistic and enjoyed painting oil and acrylic landscapes. More than anything, Glenora enjoyed babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa L. (Jay) Harpham of Swayzee; son, Stan (Virginia) Shook of Fife Lake, MI; granddaughter, Nora (Phillip) Hill of Swayzee; grandsons, Douglas J. Harpham of Swayzee and Jeffrey (Heather) Harpham of Cicero; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Naomi (late Lee) Miller of Urbana; special nephew, Kent (Michelle) Moore; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel R. Shook, Jr.; brothers, Lewis Shaw, Jacob Shaw, and Dwight Shaw; sisters, Rosedine Moore, Martha Harrold, and Wilma Jane Gruver; and her beloved dog, Darby.
At Glenora’s request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
