Glen E. Searles

Glen E. Searles, age 85, of Huntington, passed away at home Saturday, December 22, 2018.

Visitation will be from 2 – 7 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Mike Gallant officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Etna Cemetery in Huntington County.

Preferred memorials are to Mt. Etna United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750.

Glen was born on January 14, 1933 in Huntington, the son of Alva L. and Mildred E. (Buzzard) Searles. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1951 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Lois “Wiladean” Drabenstot on November 3, 1956 in Mt. Etna. He worked for General Motors for 33½ years before retiring in May of 1991. He was a member of Mt. Etna United Methodist Church. Glen enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and taking walks. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include sons Michael L. Searles of LaFontaine and Mark A. Searles of Huntington, a daughter, Melinda A. (Greg) McLaughlin of Nappanee. Also surviving are brothers Herb (Neysa) Searles of Lebanon, Gene (Pat) Searles of Huntington, and Ray (Jane) Searles of Bluffton, sisters Mable (Bob) Burnsworth of Huntington and Ruth Shenefield of Wabash, and sisters-in-law Kim Searles of Franklin and Peggy Searles of LaFontaine. Glen has five grandchildren, Ashley (Don) Ball, Carly (Amanda) Searles, Jonathan McLaughlin, Kilah McLaughlin, and Patrick McLaughlin, and great grandchildren Delaney Ball and Preston Henline. He is preceded in death by is parents, his wife, brothers Harold “Joe” Searles, Roger Searles, and Carl Searles, and sisters Mary “Louise” Anderson, Barbara Searles, and Carlette Searles.
