Gathel T. Gibson, 95, Marion, went to be with Jesus at 11:30 am on Friday, July 9, 2021, at York Place in Marion. A lifelong resident of Marion, Gathel was born in Marion on Wednesday, March 31, 1926, to Lester and Ingrid (Thompson) Price. On May 11, 1944, she married her beloved husband, Adrain D. Gibson, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2006.
Gathel graduated from Swayzee High School and was a homemaker throughout her life. She faithfully served her husband and family throughout the years. Gathel was a member of First Friends Church, Liberty Franklin Friendship Club, Farm Club, and KCK Euchre Club. She enjoyed playing cards with numerous friends and clubs. She was known for her contagious laugh, her kind and gentle spirit, and how much she loved being with family.
Survivors include her daughters, Penny (Ron) Jarvis of Fairmount and Melody (Lee) Cabe of Marion; son, Dee (Kathy) Gibson of Sweetser; granddaughters, LaShawn (Albert) Carter of Beaufort, SC, Gaye Lynn (David) Strickland of Indianapolis, DeeAnn (Brady) Hanlon of Tallahassee, FL, Denae (Lee) Green of Converse, Stacy Luster of Mesa, AZ, and Julie (Paul) Kelly of Birmingham, AL; grandsons, Kevin (Laura) Cabe of Marion, Kraig (Christy) Cabe of Fort Wayne, and Andy (Anja) Gibson of South Africa; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kathy Davidson; and son, Gaylin Gibson.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Gathel’s life will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Estates of Serenity.
