Gail Lynnette Jones, 57, Van Buren, passed away at 7:15 pm on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Marion Health. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, November 22, 1965, to Raymond and Cindra (Cooper) O’Hara. On February 14, 2014, she married Jimmy Jones and he survives.
Gail graduated from Marion High School and had worked as a State Eligibility Manager for 22 years with FSSA. She was a member of the American Legion Post # 368, Van Buren. Gail had a heart for serving others and was a mom to everyone. She especially loved cooking for her parents and her boys’ football team every season. She never let life get in the way of her social life, as she maintained the same friendships for over 40 years. “Mamma G” will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Jones of Van Buren; daughter, Cindra (Stephen) Crist of Gas City; sons, Douglas J (Ayumi) Smith II of Kirtland AFB, NM, Michael M. (Trina) Matthews of Oak Harbor, WA, Jonathon Jones of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Colson Crist, Emma Smith, Kai Matthews, Aliyah Matthews; brother, Christopher (Samantha) O’Hara of Gas City; as well as several cousins and close friends whom she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond D. and Cindra O’Hara; and mother-in-law, Barbara Jean Jones.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Gail’s life will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Jefferson Cemetery.
