G. William “Bill” Leonhard

G. William “Bill” Leonhard, 81, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died at 8:44 pm, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in Fort Wayne.  He was born October 3, 1937 in North Manchester to George A. and Margaret (Baker) Leonhard.

Bill was a 1955 graduate of Chester High School, graduated from Manchester College in 1966, and received his Master’s degree from Indiana University in 1970. Bill taught at Manchester Community Schools for 30 years retiring in 1994; he worked part-time for six years at The Hardware. Bill married Donna Barnhart in Wabash, Indiana on June 16, 1991. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church, a 50 year member of the Masonic Deming Lodge No. 88, the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, and Mizpah Shrine. Bill was also a member of the York Rite, Ivy Chapter of the Eastern Star, and sang with the Mizpah Chanters for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Leonhard of Fort Wayne, two children, G. William (Denise) Leonhard of North Manchester, and Stephanie (Andy) Castleman of Carmel, Indiana, step-son, Michael S. (Diana) Moore of Sugar Grove, Illinois, sister, Judith Moore, and niece, Melissa (Jeff) Werner, both  of North Manchester, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Tanner Leonhard, and brother-in-law, Roger W. Moore.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Congregational Christian Church, 310 North Walnut Street, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia. Friends may call 4:00 – 7:30 pm, Monday, October 15, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main Street, North Manchester, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. There will be a Masonic Service Monday at 7:30 pm.

Preferred memorials are Congregational Christian Church or Shriners Hospital for Children.
