Francis Lowell Spangler

Francis Lowell Spangler, 86, Marion, passed away at 9:26 pm on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Marion General Hospital. He was born in Jonesville, Virginia, on Tuesday, March 12, 1935, to Walter and Flora (Gregory) Spangler. He was married to the love of his life, Betty, who survives.

Lowell worked as a body shop manager and an insurance damage appraiser throughout his career, and he was a member of Eastview Wesleyan Church. He was an avid woodworker and craftsman, and he also enjoyed photography. Lowell loved to be around his family and was crazy about his grandchildren.

Additional survivors include his son, Greg and Angela Spangler of Marion; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Trenton Horn of Gas City, Jakob Brady of Marion; extended family, Terry Neal of Marion, Jeff and Heather Brady of Marion; brother, Larry (Doris) Spangler of VA; and nieces, April (Gordon) Ginnings of Columbus, Ashley (Chris) Britt of VA; great-nieces and great-nephew, Zoe, Camryn, and Caleb; and aunt, Jett Croy of GA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma Dever; and nephew, Sean Dever.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

On Friday, August 6, 2021, a funeral service to celebrate Lowell’s life will begin at 11:00 am. Rev. Jeff Brady will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.

At the family’s request, please wear a mask due to COVID conditions.
