Forrest E. Weaver

Forrest E. Weaver, 100, Marion, passed away at 9:24 am on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at York Place.  He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Tuesday, May 9, 1922, to Dean and Mary (Owings) Weaver.  On October 26, 1941, he married Lillian Ann Rich, and she preceded him in death.

Forrest attended Sweetser High School and was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He was the recipient of 3 bronze stars, good conduct ribbon, purple heart with oak leaf cluster, distinguished unit badge, and victory medal. Following his military service, he worked at Dana Corp., where he was an inspector.

Forrest was an avid bowler and golfer until the age of 95.  He enjoyed working in his yard and had a vegetable garden every year, as well as an amazing flower garden.  He enjoyed watching sports, and he always looked forward to attending Cincinnati Reds games with Lillian.  In recent years, he played cards and various games at York Place.  Forrest will be remembered as kind and caring and one who was always ready to help his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughters, Beckie Hoke of Marion and Judi (Larry) Pattison of Van Buren; grandchildren, Chris (Beth) Hoke, Jenny (Jerry) Hoss, Troy (Liza) Messersmith, Nikki (Craig) Burkholder, Shelli (Chip) Wood, Greg Pattison, and Jennie (Jim) Pattison; 12 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, John Weaver; 5 siblings; and 2 great-grandsons.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Forrest’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Chris Hoke and Jenny Hoss officiating.  Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
