Floyd Leo Fearnow

Floyd Leo Fearnow, 91, formerly of Wabash, Indiana, died at 2:58 am, Thursday, October 26, 2023, at The Waters of Tipton.  He was born on February 29, 1932, in Wabash to Arlie L. and Mary Ann (Bever) Fearnow.

Floyd was a 1950  Lagro High School graduate, and served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 as an M.P. He reached the rank of Sergeant and served a total of six years in the National Guard. He married Bonnie J. Eviston in Huntington, Indiana on June 6, 1953; she died April 28, 2023. Floyd was a farmer, and spent most of his life working in the real estate and mortgage businesses.  Along with his wife, he owned Fearnow Real Estate in Wabash for many years. He was incredibly skilled at working with customers and looked out for their best interests. With his yellow notepad and calculator, he was a master at figuring interest rates, payments, and taxes. In addition to his excellence in business, Floyd was also a talented singer and actor. Early in life, he was a member of a barbershop quartet called The Little Shavers. He was a charter member of the Wabash Community Theatre and loved being on stage in musicals. Floyd was a prolific writer. He authored and published western books and penned numerous poems. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. They will miss his stories, jokes, generous spirit, and hearing him burst into song. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Wabash, and a former member of the Kiwanis Club and the Optimist Club, both of Wabash. Floyd was also an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan.  

He is survived by four children, Randall (Beth Compton) Fearnow of Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Mark A. Fearnow of Cathedral City, California, Bethany (Dr. David) Bax of Plainfield, Indiana,  Amy L. (Greg) Baird of Atlanta, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth (Robert II) Tinsley, Benjamin Fearnow, Greta Fishback,  Nate Fishback, Owen Fishback, Jacob Girton, Cecily Girton, Ragan Bax, and two great-grandchildren, Robb Tinsley and  Bruce Tinsley.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kevin Fearnow, four brothers and five sisters. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, November 3, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Phil Lake officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash.  Friends may call 12:30-2:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Christ United Methodist Church.
