Evelyn Jane Correll, 85, of rural Lagro, Indiana, died at 10:03 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash. She was born February 20, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana to John Jacob Girvin and Evelyn Marie (Hale) McDaniel.
Evelyn married William Franklin Correll, Sr., in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on October 24, 1953; he died October 13, 2010. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, gambling, going to casinos, and country music. She was very proud to be the oldest of 12 children.
She is survived by two daughters, Maria J. (Ron King) Shepherd, and Elaine (Jeff) Martin both of rural Lagro, nine brothers and sisters: Jack (Mary) Girvin of Redding, California, Patricia (Bob) Wall of Owensboro, Kentucky, Fred (Lori) Girvin of St. Petersburg, Florida, Tim (Mary) Girvin of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Bill (Rachel) Girvin of Oregon, Ida Girvin of Rocklin, California, Helen (Don) Traylor of Hartford City, Indiana, Lana Girvin of Batavia, Ohio, and Daniel McDaniel of Cincinnati, Ohio, 11 grandchildren, Janie, Gregory, Abby, Dana, Jared, Matthew, Vanessa, Tara, Elizabeth, Bobby, and Micky, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death her parents, son, William Franklin Correll, Jr., brother, Robert Girvin, and sister, Katy Sue McMurray.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2018 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Entombment will be in Chapel of Remembrance Mausoleum, Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call Monday, 1-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
