Emma Ruth Holmes

Emma Ruth Holmes, age 87, of Marion passed away Wednesday morning, October 23, 2019 at Marion General Hospital.

Emma was born July 1, 1932 in Worthington, Indiana the daughter of the late Liston and Mary Opal (Fancher) Sample. 

She was a homemaker and a member of the Jesus Fellowship Church where she loved to play the piano.  As a preacher’s daughter, her life was always centered around the Lord.  She wrote some of her own music and also played the organ, accordion and the guitar.  Emma was a very talented musician but her favorite thing to play was the piano.  She also loved her puppy, Sierra.

She is survived by a son, Terry (Chris) Holmes of Warsaw; daughters, P.J. Holmes of Marion, Linda Lee Franks of Marion, Cindy Helphenstine of Sheridan and Barb Turner of Marion; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and her dog, Sierra.

She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rebecca Calderon officiating.

Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County, Indiana immediately following the funeral services.
