Elsie E. Spratt, 98, Marion, met her Lord and Savior in her home at 5:22 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. She was born in Huntington on December 3, 1919, to the late Robert and Sarah (Martin) Swathwood. On June 16, 1940, Elsie married Robert L. Spratt, and they shared nearly 65 years together until he met Jesus on January 2, 2005.
Elsie retired from Fashion Barn in Marion, where she was a retail clerk for 16 years. She had previously worked at Foster-Forbes. She attended Lakeview Wesleyan Church and dearly loved her family. She always cherished the times she could spend with them. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, crocheting, and knitting.
She is survived by her twin daughters, Jeannine (James) Hosey, Englewood, Florida, and Jeannette Spratt, Marion; grandchildren, James (Bridget) Hosey, Jennifer (Ryan) Mowery, and Joshua (Danielle) Hosey; three great-grandchildren, Rylee Mowery, Hadley Mowery, and Jett Hosey; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd and Paul Swathwood.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Elsie’s Celebration of Life service beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Pastor Jim Sonnefield will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
