Edwin L. Hyatt,

Edwin L. Hyatt, age 77, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at IU Hospital West, Avon, Indiana.

Ed was born April 10, 1940 to the late Paul and Virginia (Honaker) Hyatt.  He married Joyce Mills on October 16, 1964, and she preceded him in death on May 19, 2017.

Ed was a U.S. Marines veteran.  He worked in machine repair at Chrysler in Kokomo, retiring in 1999.  He was a former commandant and charter member of the Marine Corps League Tripoli Detachment.  He was a member of the F&AM Swayzee Masonic Lodge and Ancient Order of Scottish Rite & Shriners of Ft. Wayne, the Marion Moose Lodge, UAW #685 and the Mississinewa Chapter #94 Order of the Eastern Star.

He is survived by his son, Kai (fiancé Jeremy Brown) of Indianapolis; daughter, Karma Cargal of Indianapolis; brothers, Robert Hyatt of Nashville, Tennessee and Kevin (Jackie) Adair of Springfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Kamielle (Cory Strain) and Kalhie Cargal; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Friends and family may also call from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the funeral home.  Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Hahn officiating.

Burial with full military rites will be held immediately following funeral services in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

At the family’s request, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Stand Down Committee, with payments payable to the American Legion Post 13, C/O: the Grant County Veterans Office, 401 S. Adams Street, Marion, Indiana 46953.  All contributions go to local veterans in need.
