WABASH, INDIANA, May 26, 2017 — Eagles Theatre announced it is one of several businesses participating in Downtown Wabash Marketplace, Inc.’s “First Friday” event on June 2, 2017. To showcase the “Arts Alive” theme, the historic building will host an open house from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with self-guided tours, the unveiling of two Eagles Renovation Project videos and a free showing of the animated musical “SING” at 8:15 p.m.

The Eagles open house will offer patrons a unique opportunity to explore the rarely seen second, third and fourth floors of Eagles building, and learn more about renovation plans scheduled to start later this fall. Self-guided tours of the upper floors will run from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., with renovation renderings displayed and staff on-hand to answer questions.

The open house will also allow guests to view memorabilia items that are available through an online auction. The 110 year old Eagles building held various nostalgic treasures throughout its unused floors and the auction will allow for patrons to own a piece of history. The auction catalog is available for viewing at harmeyerauction.com.

Additionally, guests are invited to the main theatre to watch the unveiling of the Eagles Renovation Project video. This short video showcases the important role Eagles Theatre plays in the community, as well as the new opportunities and educational programming to come through the renovation project. A virtual tour video will also be debuted, serving as a digital walk-through of the renovation project plans and renderings.

The Eagles Theatre Renovation Project will add a second movie screen, an expanded lobby, an enhanced backstage area to allow for more live events, a restored fourth floor ballroom, and a partnership with Heartland Career Center that will launch a new multimedia arts program for regional high school students.

The Eagles Renovation Project was spearheaded through support received through the Stellar Communities Designation, specifically a grant from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs as well as a match from the City of Wabash. The Project has also received funding through the Regional Cities Initiatives. Donations are still accepted and many donor recognition opportunities are available.
