Dorotha Marie Harvey

Dorotha Marie Harvey, 104, of Heritage Pointe, Huntington, Indiana, formerly of Wabash, Indiana, died at 3:05 pm, Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Heritage Pointe in Huntington. She was born on January 10, 1919, in Wabash, to Linden and Emma (Lewellyn) Harrold.

Dorotha graduated from Wabash High School in 1937 and attended St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, Indiana. She married Robert L. Harvey at the Wabash First United Methodist Church on April 16, 1941; he died February 28, 2004. Dorotha was the administrative assistant at General Tire in Wabash, retiring in 1984, after 31 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had joined the chancel choir in the mid thirties and sang for over 60 years. She was a member of the PEO By Chapter, a philanthropic sisterhood, Wabash Musicale, and served on the Wabash Unit of the Indianapolis Symphony Board. Dorotha enjoyed and excelled in art, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, needlepoint, sewing, and her daily devotionals, and reading of the Bible.

She is survived by two children, Ann (James) Ambler of Huntington and Daniel Lawrence Harvey of Lebanon, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Cindy (Philip) Deavel of Spotslvania, Virginia, Cathy (John) Cromett of Portland, Oregon, Chrystie Keller of Miami, Florida, Timothy Harvey, Rodney Harvey, and Susan Adaway, all of Marion, Indiana, Jason (Leah) Ambler of Rockport, Indiana, Eric (Abigail) Ambler of Yorktown, Indiana, Elaine Meyer of Warren, Indiana, Andrea Meyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Asa Harvey of Lebanon, Missouri, and Eli Harvey of Springfield, Missouri; 27 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, James Linden Harvey, and Richard Lee Harvey, and three brothers, Donald Harrold, Durward Harrold, and Garl Harrold.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, April 17, 2023, at First United Methodist Church, 110 N. Cass Street, Wabash, with Rev. Nathan Whybrew officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-5 pm Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash and 1 hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
