Donna M. Penird, Marion, 79, died at 08:53 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017, in her home, after a long 10-year battle with breast cancer that she fought courageously to the very end. She was born on February 3, 1938, in Ogdensburg, New York, to the late Rev. Harold A. and Helen (Guilfoil) Thomas. Donna married Carl W. Penird, her husband of 58 years, on September 5, 1959. He survives.
Donna was a homemaker and enjoyed canning and gardening. She was also an avid reader, loved animals and fishing. More than anything, Donna loved being with her loving husband, fishing, hunting, camping, and going on canoe trips throughout the United States and Canada.
In addition to her husband, Donna is survived by her children, Thomas (Terry) Penird, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Theresa (Richard) Parker, Seneca Falls, New York, Amy Jo (Craig) Cazier, Farmington, Minnesota; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Thomas, Governeur, New York.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Harold and Helen Thomas; sister, Maie Thomas
The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, IN. A funeral service for Donna will begin immediately following visitation at 7p.m. with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
