Diana Sue “Susie” (Gustin) Prickett

Diana Sue “Susie” (Gustin) Prickett, 78, of Peru, passed away at her residence on Friday, November 17, 2023. She was born on February 9, 1945, in Peru, Indiana to Harold Clayton and Dorothy Jean (DuBois) Gustin. On October 14, 1962, Susie married Eldo Xen Prickett, at the First Christian Church in Peru. They celebrated 61 years of marriage in October.

She was employed at Delco electronics in Kokomo, for 30 years, retiring in 1999 from General Motors. She felt blessed for the opportunity to have worked there. She met many wonderful people and became close friends with several.

Susie and Xen lived in Converse for 26 years, where they raised their children. They continued their close friendships with lifelong friends in Converse, as well as relatives, throughout their lives. They moved to Kokomo, where they lived for 9 years. In 1997, they moved to Peru, where they built a new home. They traveled extensively for several years and enjoyed rides on their Harley.

Spending time with family and cooking for them was always a joy for her. She baked wedding cakes for friends and relatives for over 30 years. She loved to sing and enjoyed church choir and performing with her two brothers; Tom and Ben, sister, Bobbie, and sister-in-law, Kayla at nursing homes. Susie also performed at reunions and other parties for a 5 year period with former classmate, Jimmy Cover. She enjoyed meeting her former classmates each month and lunched with friends and family.

Susie was a member of the Peru Rainbow Girls during her teens and later in life, became a member of the Converse Eastern Star. She was a member of the Local 292 UAW, in Kokomo and a member of the Miami County Historical Society, plus a member of the Peru Eagles Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an 11 hour old baby girl, Wray Jean, and a 9 day old baby boy, Wrandall Clayton, brother Ben (Lynda) Gustin, Peru, brothers-in-law Bob Brown Jr., Amboy, Steve Brown, Peru. 

Survivors include her husband, Xen, son, William Xen, Indianapolis, daughter, Mia (Dee) Ellet, Peru, grandsons; Adam (Bethany) Prickett, Speedway, Cody (fiance, Robin) and Chase Ellet, Bluffton, and granddaughter, Tori (Robby) Sucharski, Peru, great grandsons; Emery & Jackson Prickett, Speedway, Robby Jr. & Ray Sucharski, Peru, Isaiah & Michael Ellet, Bluffton, great granddaughters; Payton and Kayley, Speedway and Risika Sucharski, Peru, brothers, Tom (Dianne) Gustin, Peru, sister, Bobbie (Tom) Terry, Florida, brothers-in-law, Keith (Kayla) Prickett, Marion, Bob (Maribeth) Brown, Amboy, and sister-in-law, Lynn Brown, Peru. Susie was very close to her sister-in-law, Kayla, her cousins, and her precious nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is planned for 11am, Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru. Burial will follow at the Converse Cemetery. Visitation is planned for 4pm Friday, November 24, 2023. A special service will be given by the Eastern Stars of Converse that evening.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Miami County Historical Society.
