Delva T. Lange, a resident of Marion from 1980-2020, passed away in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the age of 93. Delva was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She married Paul G. Lange on May 30, 1953. They celebrated 69 years of marriage prior to his own passing earlier this year.
While working at various times as a secretary and office manager, Delva identified most as a devoted mother and grandmother. She took great pride in her two children, Paula and Mark; daughter-in-law, Jill; and grandchildren, Jordan and Kristin. Delva was well-known for her talkative nature and outgoing personality, full of stories, and befriending nearly everyone she met. She was a woman of strong faith and character, and she served her Lord, her family, and others with loving sacrifice. She greatly enjoyed music, singing for many years in church choirs, quilting and sewing, bridge, golf, travel, a dry martini (with lots of olives), and spending time with family and friends.
Delva is survived by her daughter, Paula C. Lange of Carmel; son, Mark R. (Jill) Lange of Zionsville; grandson, Jordan P. (Elaine Sundberg) Lange of Chicago; and granddaughter, Kristin N. (Austin) Graef of San Diego.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
The family will receive visitors from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1206 N. Miller Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Delva’s life will begin at 4:00 pm with Pastor Fredrick Hearn officiating. A dinner will take place at the church immediately following the service. Burial will be at Our Redeemer Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri, at a later date.
