Debra S. Rice, 68, Marion, passed away at 12:40 am on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. She was born in South Bend, Indiana, on Tuesday, June 28, 1955, to Duane and Jean (Lehman) Kauffman. On February 13, 1973, she married Gregory L. Rice, and he preceded her in death on November 15, 2021.
Debra graduated from Mississinewa High School and was a CNA at Wesleyan Health & Rehabilitation Center. She loved going to car shows, and she enjoyed riding and listening to music in her ’65 Nova.
Survivors include her daughters, Lori (James Howard) Rumple of Marion and Kim (David) Swetman of LaFontaine; son, Stephen (Katie Hubartt) Rice of Marion; grandchildren, Travis, Shelby, Samuel, Alivia, and William; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Bentley, and Dakota; and sisters, Phyllis Stump and Carol (Gene) Roberts.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Stephen Stump.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave, Marion, IN.
On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, a funeral service to celebrate Debra’s life will take place at North Chapel at 11:30 am. Pastor Mick Simpkins will be officiating with burial following at Marion National Cemetery.
