David W. Ricks, 77, left us to join his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Community Hospital in Anderson.
Dave was born in Marion, Indiana and grew up in Fairmount, son of the late Herbert and Ruth (Earhart) Ricks. He graduated from Fairmount High School Class of 1959 where he participated in multiple sports.
After graduation, Dave went to work at General Motors and retired after 37 years of service. He also graduated from Ball State University with a BS in Biology.
Dave had a life long love of horses. As an avid horseman he was involved in all aspects of Standard Bred Harness Racing, as an owner, trainer, driver and member of the (USTA) United States Trotting Association.
Dave also refereed basketball and football at local schools. He was a 55 year long member of the Fairmount Masonic Lodge #635.
Left to cherish him memory are his son David, Alexandria, daughter Dana, Anderson, sister Linda Glaza, Colorado Springs, Co, step-brother Frank (Beth) Liestenfeltz, Marion, loving companion Alma Goodpaster, special friends, Bill and Stacy Beckley, Frank and Sherry Payne, and cousins John and Sue Small.
Visitation for David will be Monday, January 7, 2019 from 4-8 PM at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. There will be Masonic Services held at the funeral home on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 8:00 P.M. Funeral services are on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Bishir officiating. Private burial will be at Park Cemetery.
