David Lowell Boone

David Lowell Boone, 88, Marion, who passed away in his home on Saturday, October 20, 2018, is now experiencing the joys of heaven with Jesus, his Savior.

David was born in Ft. Wayne, IN, on March 14, 1930, to Fred and Marie (Trainer) Boone, the youngest of their 5 children; Robert, Joseph, Bette and Don, all of whom are deceased.

The family moved to Andrews, IN, when David was in second grade. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1948, and enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. David loved to talk about his time in the services, visiting with friends at the seaside home of countess and traveling with the Bordeau, France base commander throughout Europe and North Africa.

Returning home in 1955, David completed his Military training at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH. That same year he met Marcelene Nelson, who would also become his wife. She was a student at Grace College, Winona Lake, IN, and he was a shoe salesman/manager. Besides working in various shoe stores, New Castle, Muncie, and Kokomo, Dave was also an agent for Commonwealth Life Insurance Company. Later, after marriage, he worked as credit manager for Leath Furniture in Kokomo, IN, a salesman in the Marion Leath Store, and a carpet salesman in Losantville and Alexandria, IN.

David has always loved music; classical, opera, and praise and worship songs. He is best remembered and loved as a tenor soloist who has sung in many churches and nursing homes, accompanied by his wife Marcy. He always sang joyfully with a big voice and heart, praising the Lord.

Seven years after they first met, God brought David and Marcy together when they moved to the Kokomo area. Early in marriage, while Marcy was a teacher at Western Schools, Russiaville, IN, and David was working for Leath, they felt led to adopt 3 children. First child was Jerry at age 7 and a half, then Randy at age 10, and Shannon at age 3.

The Boone family moved to Marion, IN, in 1976. Jerry (deceased), a Marion High School Teacher and an IWU graduate, gave us granddaughter, Janna Lee; grandsons, Justin and Brandon; and great grandchildren, Gabrielle and Liam.

Randy (partner Dean), an IWU art major and graduate, lives in Florida where he enjoys landscaping, playing piano, and art.

Shannon lives in Marion with his wife, Nancy, and daughter, Keir, age 9. He works for Cafe Valley.

David and Marcy welcomed Randall Hehe into their Marion home about 5 years ago as a close family member/friend who, like a son, has been so helpful and supportive.

Other than immediate family, David was also close to his nieces and nephews, Robert (Rose) Flora, Judy Minger, and Mike (Michelle) Flora.

David and Marcy (she survives) have always enjoyed the simple pleasures; their home, yard, sitting on the back porch, visiting with neighbors, etc. They spent many happy days doing what they loved best, traveling throughout the state and eating at their favorite restaurants. Dave would always comment on the beauty of farmland, trees, clouds, sunsets, homes, etc. He liked the simple, quiet life and relaxation, David is well known for his sense of humor and stories.

Services to celebrate David’s life will be at College Park Chapel, Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, Indiana, at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, with Pastors Chuck Vernon and Roger Smith officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Andrews, Indiana.
