David Leaowen Bell

David Leaowen Bell, 71, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, in Savannah, Georgia. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Saturday, August 25, 1951, to Thomas L. and Genevieve (Coats) Bell.  

David graduated from Eastbrook High School and attended Cumberland College. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army during Operation Desert Storm and achieved the rank of Sergeant. David received the following awards, medals, etc.: Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Valorous Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Star (BSS), Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), Kuwait Liberation Medal (K), Kuwait Liberation Medal (SA), and Marksman Badge (Rifle). David was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion. 

Survivors include his brother, Thomas S. (Cheryl) Bell of Marion; sisters, Patty Snyder of Marion, Linda (Robert) Murray-Figueroa of Palm Bay, FL, and Frances Newton of Upland; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara Beedles. 

A graveside service to celebrate David’s life will take place at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Grant Memorial Park, 1606 W. 26th St., Marion, IN. Pastor Tom Mansbarger will be officiating. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
