David L Flora, 74 of Huntington passed away at 8:38 pm on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Heritage of Huntington. David battled Crohn’s disease most of his adult life, and did so with quiet courage and dignity. He faced each medical crisis with strength, optimism, and his own sense of humor. He will be missed more than words can express. David was a 1961 graduate of Clear Creek High School and later from Devry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. David worked for over 40 years in the electronics industry, including Memcor, Magnavox, and retiring from Raytheon in 2001. David grew up farming in Clear Creek Township and his thoughts always returned to farming during each planting and harvesting season. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest source of joy was his family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their various activities.

David was born on September 1, 1941 in Huntington, the son of James and Berniece (Eisenhauer) Flora. They preceded him in death.

He was united in marriage to Patricia R. Elzey on May 8, 1965 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include three daughters: Amy (Steven) Thomas of Huntington, Dawn (Dennis) Kerlin of Huntington, and Janae (Joe) Belovich of Huntington; Seven grandchildren: Ryan Thomas, Darin Thomas, Sarrah Kerlin, Rebeccah Kerlin, Julianna Kerlin, Joseph Belovich, and James Belovich.

He was preceded in death by a brother Dale Flora, and a grandson Joshua Kerlin.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:00 am with one hour of calling prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Gary Dilley officiating.

The family will hold private graveside services.

Memorial donations can be made out to the Huntington County Special Olympics in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
