David “Dave” Lee Goodman

David “Dave” Lee Goodman, 74, Sims, passed away in his home at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018.  The 4th of 10 children, he was born on July 30, 1944, to Charles T. and Lois E. (Poe) Goodman.

Dave attended Marion Community Schools and graduated from Swayzee High School in 1962.  He played baseball and basketball, and he also ran cross country.  He was an Army veteran during the Vietnam War and stationed in Okinawa, Japan.  Dave worked at the Chrysler Transmission Plant in Kokomo for 30 years, retiring in 2002.  He previously worked at Dana Corp. in Marion.

On December 4, 1976, Dave married Stephanie Wong.  He was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals, Indianapolis Colts, IU basketball, and NASCAR racing.  He loved to golf, as well as play Euchre and Poker.  He also loved to draw portraits of his children and caricatures of himself and others in addition to painting signs.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Goodman, Sims; son, Todd (Jen) Goodman, Carlock, IL; daughters, Anita (Nick) Brooks, Fairmount, and Erin Wray, Indianapolis; 9 grandchildren; sister, Marilyn (Robert) Schanhals, Graniteville, SC; brothers, Charles (Sharon) Goodman, Haymarket, VA, James (Lynne) Goodman, Indianapolis, Rodger (Pam) Goodman, Noblesville, Jerry (Debbie) Goodman, Indianapolis, Randy (Fatima) Goodman, Tampa, FL, Terry Joe (Carolyn) Goodman, Indianapolis, and Steven (Cindy) Goodman, Converse; sister-in-law, Lisa Goodman, Chicago, IL; aunt, Ruth Poe, Herbst; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Goodman; and his beloved dog, Toby.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with Dave’s memorial service beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN.  Pastor Mike Murrell will be officiating.
